Mix and Match

There’s always something happening in our home, but just because it’s busy doesn’t mean I don’t want it to look fabulous. I find that mixing things up with neutrals keeps the feel – and the atmosphere – light. So I keep the walls in various shades of champagne, mocha and cream, and let our family style shine through.

That’s a natural element to the floors with solid oak topped by scattered rugs and, taking a leaf out of the Nordic book of easy living style, I add interest with an eclectic collection of furniture and mix and match accessories.

A selection of soft and cosy throws brings wonderful textures to any room, and they look inviting whether slung over a chair or folded and stacked in a pile.

Mixing and matching fabrics and colour is my favourite way to add life and interest, bringing visual interest to each room while keeping a sense of space and freedom.  I love the punchy combination of lavender and teal, so this season I’m looking out for cushions in these shades to give my sofa an update. But when it comes to tableware I like to keep it simple and sophisticated with classic white crockery and sparkling glass.

Top Tip: Rip up the rule book and experiment with mixing up prints, colours and textures to really stamp your personality on your home – be as bold as you dare!
