Animal magic at Aldiss

Inspired by nature and coveted by art collectors, a new range of handcrafted sculptures by Robert Harrop, which arrives at Aldiss this month, makes a real style statement.

From a stargazing hare to a majestic gorilla, a new collection of handcrafted sculptures, which has arrived at our Fakenham and Norwich superstores this month, celebrates the wonder of the animal kingdom in all its glory.

The Edge Sculpture range by Robert Harrop is highly prized by collectors and the pieces would make a stylish addition to any home.

The evolving collection is designed by sculptor Matt Buckley, stepson of company founder Robert Harrop and creative director of the family-run company, which is based in Shropshire.

Each piece is painstakingly researched to capture each animal’s character and lovingly created.

Here comes the science bit… A mix of marble resin is carefully poured into a prepared master mould and is lowered into a vacuum chamber to make sure there aren’t any air bubbles. Once the resin is cured and hardened the cast is removed and the piece is then painted, following a colour palette developed in the design studio.

The beautiful stargazing hare, a quintessential sight in the Norfolk countryside, has gone straight to the top of our wishlist.
