How our live for less homeware range can help you save money this winter

As living costs soar, we look for simple, savvy ways to keep bills and energy use down as the cold weather sets in.

To help families cope during the colder months, we’ve launched our Live for Less campaign, and have hand-selected furnishings designed to lower your energy use and help you save money.
“Many families may face issues with cooking and finding ways to stay warm at night, without over-relying on electric,” shares our trading director, Tina Barkway. “At the end of a long day, the last thing you want to do is enjoy a less than tasty dinner or climb into a cold bed, but luckily, there are some cost-effective ways to make sure you remain toasty and can enjoy your evening.”
Below, Tina reveals what must-have, money-saving items can help you get a restful night’s sleep, eat well, keep Jack Frost at bay and not break the bank.

Prepare budget-friendly, tasty and healthy meals

Right now, air fryers are top of many peoples’ shopping lists as they are super healthy, cost-effective and a real-time-saver in the kitchen.
Hot air is used to cook food instead of oil, making it easy to prepare fresh, nutritious dishes. They can be used to bake, cook and fry and offer plenty of room to cook large batches in one go – ideal for when you want to prepare meals to last the week.
Batch cooking is also a great way of cutting down energy use, as you will be relying on using less electricity to make the same amount of food. Air fryers are also more energy-saving than conventional ovens, helping you to hold on to your cash.
I would recommend checking out our Tower Air Fryers and Tower Soup & Smoothie Makers – all featured in our Live for Less range.
Much like an air fryer, soup makers reduce the work, electricity and time required to whip up a tasty treat. You can prepare your favourite soup, or experiment with new ones, for a comforting winter lunch.
Your soup maker can also be used to create dips, sauces and smoothies – it's another handy gadget that can help you cut down your bills this winter.

Enjoy a cosy evening on the sofa without turning on the radiators

Never underestimate the heating power of a luxuriously soft and cuddly blanket or throw. It’s the perfect accessory to keep you warm throughout the evening, whether kicking back with a book on the sofa or unwinding in bed.
Faux fur, fleece and sherpa-lined throws are ideal to use in winter. Heavy-weight, thick and silky soft, these blankets are great to wrap over your body, ensuring you won’t need to turn on the electric heater to enjoy a peaceful and restful end to your day.
We stock a variety of throws for you to choose from, in an array of colours, patterns and styles so you can find one that looks stunning and adds a pop of colour to your bedroom, living room or study.

Get a restful night’s sleep without spending lots

When choosing a duvet, opt for soft and breathable fabrics that can better regulate your body’s temperature, helping to ensure you sleep soundly throughout the night.
The 13.5 tog duvet from Fine Bedding Co is non-allergenic and its micro-fine Smartfil fibres are great for trapping air and contouring to your body, helping to retain maximum heat levels. This will ensure you enjoy a cosy night’s rest without having to leave the heating on overnight and spending more money.
Finding the right materials for your winter bedding is another money-saving trick families can try this season. Often people will prioritise colour and design when picking duvet covers, pillowcases and fitted sheets, not realising the material they select can make an enormous difference to how warm they’ll be at night.
For a cosy night’s sleep, I recommend exploring Belledorm’s collection of brushed cotton sheets, duvet sets and pillowcase pairs. Available in a range of pastel and neutral tones, they’ll complement a variety of bedroom themes.
The compact fluffy fibres, soft-to-the-touch finish, and enhanced breathability of Belledorm’s brushed cotton collection will help regulate your temperature as you sleep and provide added comfort and insulation, so you can stay warm without needing to turn to electrical alternatives.
This winter’s all about finding easy and clever ways to save on cost and reduce energy usage without compromising on comfort, and our Live for Less range can help you achieve this.
